Dr. Shauna Mead

Dr. Shauna Mead

Veterinarian

Dr. Shauna Mead is native to upstate New York where she learned at a young age she had a life long desire to care for animals. Her undergraduate studies were at Utica College of Syracuse University, majoring in biology. When she wasn’t studying, she took pride in working at New Hartford Animal Hospital as an assistant and volunteering at a monthly spay and neuter release clinic.

She attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Caribbean and found another love: the ocean. While in veterinary school she was a leading member of PAWS (People for Animal Welfare on St. Kitts), which included being a foster to multiple dogs. After spending her last year of veterinary school at Cornell University, her fiance and multiple four-legged children ventured to San Diego. A year was spent at California Veterinary Specialists doing a rotating internship focused on small animal medicine, surgery, and emergency. Since completion of the internship in 2010 she has worked as an associate general practitioner and as an emergency clinician, as well as welcomed her first daughter into the world.

All areas of veterinary medicine are of interest; currently, she is focusing on strengthening her ability to perform ultrasounds. On days off she plans to help Dr. Hatt with spay/neuter release programs, surf, hike, and establish a home in beautiful Hawaii.

Dr. Marguerite Speelman

Dr. Marguerite Speelman

Veterinarian

Aloha, I’m Dr. Marguerite Speelman! I grew up in Canada where I attended the University of Calgary for my bachelor of science in biology, and went on to earn my DVM from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. The beautiful landscapes, climate, and culture drew me to Oahu. I am passionate about veterinary medicine as it allows me to use my skills to connect with the community and help to strengthen the human-animal bond. I enjoy all aspects of medicine, but am particularly interested in internal medicine, dermatology, wellness and preventative care. Outside of work I can be found exploring the island through hiking, snorkelling, scuba diving and other outdoor activities. I am eager to serve the Animal House community!

Dr. Tracey Mullins

Dr. Tracey Mullins

Veterinarian

Aloha! My name is Dr. Tracey Mullins. I knew when I was very young that I wanted to be a veterinarian, but sometimes life doesn’t give you a direct path to that goal. I grew up showing Shetland Sheepdogs and participating in 4-H and AKC shows. While in college, I met an Army guy, got married, followed him around the globe, completed several degrees, and started a family, having our wonderful daughter Lindsey. But I still wasn’t a veterinarian, so I went to vet school later in life attending Kansas State University. I love everything about being a veterinarian (especially dermatology, surgery, and pediatrics), and I believe in treating every patient like they were my own pet. My pets are part of our family, they make us laugh, cry, and sometimes scream! We love our pets dearly and I look forward to meeting you. When I’m not at work, yes this does occur, I really enjoy running, snorkeling, gardening, and spending time with family.
Dr. Laura Harrington

Dr. Laura Harrington

Veterinarian

Hello, I’m Dr. Laura Harrington. I was born and raised in Dublin Ireland where I attended the University College Dublin for vet school. I spent the first few years of my career in Ireland working in various busy small animal and emergency hospitals. I really enjoy internal medicine and particularly love working with feline patients ! Outside of work, I love to travel. My wife and I have been to over 16 countries in the past 2 years including Peru and Egypt! We also love to cook and spend time relaxing with our beautiful one eyed cat, Bell. I look forward to exploring Oahu and bringing some Irish charm to Animal House Veterinary Center.

Executive Team

Jessica

Jessica

Executive Director

Aloha! I am Jessica and I am the Executive Director here at Animal House Veterinary Center. I also manage Dr. Hatt’s other practice in Northern California! I feel incredibly blessed to spend my time in two pretty awesome places in the United States. I love being a part of the Animal House Ohana because I believe in providing the best care possible to our fur babies and encouraging and empowering staff to live their best life, both in and out of work. I began my journey in the Veterinary industry with Dr. Hatt back in 2011 and have loved the journey ever since.

But who am I outside of work? I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have 3 loveable furbabies! I have my goofball Lab, Odell, who is the biggest snugglebug I’ve ever met. I have my old lady Australian Shepherd, Maggie May, who was my husband and I’s first baby. And I have an anti-social black cat, Tekka Maki, who just really prefers you leave her be. My husband and I are passionate about traveling and do it as often as we can! I’ve been all over the world, and have wrapped our love of travel into one of my biggest personal goals – To run a marathon in every state! So far, I am 12 states in and the journey has taken me to some pretty phenomenal places that I may not have considered otherwise. When I am not traveling or running (Which admittedly is rare), I am hiking, biking, beaching, or exploring local craft breweries and wineries.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a little bit. Pop on in and say hi! I love to get to know our clients! I look forward to meeting you and your fur babies!

Director of Medical Services

Alllloohaaaa!! My name is Michelle and I am the Medical Director here at Animal House. I’m a local girl born and raised here on Oahu. I traveled the world with my family because my dad was in the military and after 18 years I decided to move back home where I have remained since, “NO PLACE LIKE HOME”! Here I am blessed to share my life with my hubby of 16 years and my 3 boys (4 legged) Buddah and Tofu (Jack Russel mixes) and my boxer MJ. Love them! The last few years we have made it a point to put in more time for traveling. Recently we went to Europe and also took our first cruise ever to Mexico! But when we are home beach time is always a must!! The ocean is my reset button!

I have been in the Veterinary field for over 15 years and 13 of those years have been spent here with my Animal House Ohana. I also spend half of my time helping to manage Dr. Hatts other practice, Pawsh Place, in California. I have always been very passionate about providing the best care for our patients and their families. I enjoy being part of leading our staff every day and hope I can continue to motivate and inspire them even through the toughest of days.

Client Care & Technician

Maratha

Maratha

Client Care & Technician

I have been working in the veterinary field for over 15 years. I never imagined doing anything else as a career. The first time I felt the passion for the veterinary field was at the age of 7. I remember placing a bandage on a garter snake my cat had just caught. I was hooked. I knew at the moment I wanted to spend my life caring for animals. When I am not working, you’ll most likely find me spending time with my family. My husband Carl and I love to hike, hit the beach, and play disc golf. Our son Aiden is almost always with us as well. Evenings we like to hangout with friends and enjoy our weekly trivia nights. If we have the opportunity we try and catch whatever performance may be in town, especially live music, but I’ll never say no to a broadway show in Honolulu. On the quiet nights I like to curl up by the TV with my 2 senior dogs Rusty and Honey Bee. I also, have a cat Harley that loves to purr and knead on my tummy while I’m trying to sleep. But I wake up every morning excited to continue my journey with Animal House Veterinary Center. And, I look forward to seeing my coowrkers and all our wonderful clients.

When I am not at the animal hospital I am with Cayman most of the time. My husband is currently deployed so I had to figure out a way to stay busy during that time. Cayman and I go on plenty of hikes or just a relaxing day at the beach that ends with hours spent at the dog park.

Hi everyone! My name is Kyla. I was born in the Philippines and raised here in Oahu my whole life. After graduating high school, I enlisted in the Reserves. Though the veterinary field is a new experience, I love both people and animals! I am a doggy-dog-lover at heart!

I cherish spending time with my family, whether it be a church, grabbing food, or going “holo holo.” I appreciate the little things (especially in the outdoors) and make time for self-care. I prioritize going to physical therapy and the gym— I love that feeling of chasing a gym pump!

A few of my favorite animal movies to mention are A Dog’s Purpose, We Bought A Zoo, and Brother Bear!
