Dr. Shauna Mead
Veterinarian
She attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Caribbean and found another love: the ocean. While in veterinary school she was a leading member of PAWS (People for Animal Welfare on St. Kitts), which included being a foster to multiple dogs. After spending her last year of veterinary school at Cornell University, her fiance and multiple four-legged children ventured to San Diego. A year was spent at California Veterinary Specialists doing a rotating internship focused on small animal medicine, surgery, and emergency. Since completion of the internship in 2010 she has worked as an associate general practitioner and as an emergency clinician, as well as welcomed her first daughter into the world.
All areas of veterinary medicine are of interest; currently, she is focusing on strengthening her ability to perform ultrasounds. On days off she plans to help Dr. Hatt with spay/neuter release programs, surf, hike, and establish a home in beautiful Hawaii.

Dr. Marguerite Speelman
Veterinarian
Aloha, I’m Dr. Marguerite Speelman! I grew up in Canada where I attended the University of Calgary for my bachelor of science in biology, and went on to earn my DVM from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. The beautiful landscapes, climate, and culture drew me to Oahu. I am passionate about veterinary medicine as it allows me to use my skills to connect with the community and help to strengthen the human-animal bond. I enjoy all aspects of medicine, but am particularly interested in internal medicine, dermatology, wellness and preventative care. Outside of work I can be found exploring the island through hiking, snorkelling, scuba diving and other outdoor activities. I am eager to serve the Animal House community!

But who am I outside of work? I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have 3 loveable furbabies! I have my goofball Lab, Odell, who is the biggest snugglebug I’ve ever met. I have my old lady Australian Shepherd, Maggie May, who was my husband and I’s first baby. And I have an anti-social black cat, Tekka Maki, who just really prefers you leave her be. My husband and I are passionate about traveling and do it as often as we can! I’ve been all over the world, and have wrapped our love of travel into one of my biggest personal goals – To run a marathon in every state! So far, I am 12 states in and the journey has taken me to some pretty phenomenal places that I may not have considered otherwise. When I am not traveling or running (Which admittedly is rare), I am hiking, biking, beaching, or exploring local craft breweries and wineries.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a little bit. Pop on in and say hi! I love to get to know our clients! I look forward to meeting you and your fur babies!

Director of Medical Services
I have been in the Veterinary field for over 15 years and 13 of those years have been spent here with my Animal House Ohana. I also spend half of my time helping to manage Dr. Hatts other practice, Pawsh Place, in California. I have always been very passionate about providing the best care for our patients and their families. I enjoy being part of leading our staff every day and hope I can continue to motivate and inspire them even through the toughest of days.

I have two babies at home. One being my 11 year old Boxer, Solo and the other being my Red-Foot Tortoise, Opal! I recently grew a new fascination in reptiles and the care taking for them, which is why I wanted to get a tortoise!
My hobbies outside this field are painting, writing, traveling, and spending time with my family and boyfriend!

Aloha! My name is Julianne but everyone calls me ‘JJ’. I was born and raised in beautiful Manoa Valley of Oahu. I originally attended Saint Francis school but graduated from Roosevelt High School in 2020 due to Saint Francis’ school closure.

Hi everyone! I’m Rachel. I’m originally from Colorado, but my husband is in the army and we were lucky enough to be stationed here in beautiful Oahu. I have two human kiddos and 3 fur babies who are loving the island life. When I’m not at work I enjoy hiking with my dogs and family, and water sports.

I’m from Colorado, but move around a lot due to my husband being in the military. I have two daughters in college back in Colorado. We have two dogs (Odin and Luca)and one cat (Loki). We’ve been here in Hawaii since February 2021.

Laila
Receptionist
Hi everyone, my name is Laila. My favorite color is green. The best part of working at Animal House is the staff here! Good vibes always 🙂 My favorite animal is a jaguar.

Amber
Receptionist
Aloha! My name is Amber Rodriguez, I recently moved to Hawaii from Illinois to be with my husband who is on active duty. Moving across the country can be super stressful but I had my furry friend right by my side. Cayman is a one-year-old Pittie that always has the biggest smile on his face. When I am not at the animal hospital I am with Cayman most of the time. My husband is currently deployed so I had to figure out a way to stay busy during that time. Cayman and I go on plenty of hikes or just a relaxing day at the beach that ends with hours spent at the dog park.

Tiffany
Receptionist
Hi everyone, my name is Tiffany. I am born and raised here in Ewa Beach. Before joining the Animal House Vet Center family, I was a Starbucks barista for 4 years. As I have no background in the veterinary field, I do love animals and took a leap of faith in my new journey as a receptionist here.
I have three furbabies that think they’re humans- Dozer (Shorty Bull), Zena (Shorty Bull), and Kiki (Guinea Pig). I’m trying to influence my family on getting another pet. They are all so loving, silly, playful, and love to eat!
I enjoy relaxing and spending time with my girlfriend and family. A cool thing about me is that I’m a twin. Our favorite things to do is drive around the island, watch movies, go to the beach, find new places to eat, go shopping, and cruise!
Thank you so much for taking the time to learn a bit about me. I look forward to learning more here at AHVC, and meeting you and your furbabies🤍

Grace
Receptionist
Hi! My name is Grace. I’m originally from Los Angeles, California, and I recently moved to the island. I’m a fur mama of two kitties named Jupiter and Pluto! In my free time, I love to run long distances outdoors and go to the beach. Working with animals has brought so much joy to my life, but I aspire to work in the Film industry one day and help make movies! I also love to take pictures, read, and spend time with my family.

Kyla
Receptionist
Hi everyone! My name is Kyla. I was born in the Philippines and raised here in Oahu my whole life. After graduating high school, I enlisted in the Reserves. Returning to the island, I acquired civilian jobs, did some college, and gained life experiences as a young adult. Besides drill, my first humble job was at Subway, then working at a hotel restaurant as a hostess for several years.
Though the veterinary field is a new experience, I love both people and animals! I am a doggy-dog-lover at heart!
I cherish spending time with my family, whether it be a church, grabbing food, or going “holo holo.” I appreciate the little things (especially in the outdoors) and make time for self-care. I prioritize going to physical therapy and the gym— I love that feeling of chasing a gym pump!
A few of my favorite animal movies to mention are A Dog’s Purpose, We Bought A Zoo, and Brother Bear!
I am very excited about this new journey here at Animal House, and I look forward to meeting your dear beloved pets!
