Dr. Eileen Lau
VeterinarianDr. Eileen Lau, a native to the San Francisco Bay Area, recently moved to the islands after graduating from the Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine (summer of 2011) to marry the love of her life. She completed her undergraduate education at UC Berkeley where she double majored in Integrative Biology and Music. Her clinical experiences include six years in wildlife rehabilitation, one year as an environmental enrichment technician/research associate, two years as a veterinary technician and one year as a veterinary anesthetist.
While in school, Dr. Lau was president of Veterinary Students for Animal Welfare and vice president of the Feline Medicine Club. Her specific areas of interest include anesthesia, feline medicine, and exotic animal medicine (small mammals and birds in particular). She is also a member of the Evidence-Based Medicine Association.
In her free time, she enjoys snorkeling, playing piano, playing the harp, singing karaoke, cooking, and spending time talking story with loved ones at the beach. She is eager to explore the many wonders this island has to offer and looks forward to forming meaningful relationships with pets and owners in the years to come.
Dr. Shauna Mead
VeterinarianDr. Shauna Mead is native to upstate New York where she learned at a young age she had a life long desire to care for animals. Her undergraduate studies were at Utica College of Syracuse University, majoring in biology. When she wasn’t studying, she took pride in working at New Hartford Animal Hospital as an assistant and volunteering at a monthly spay and neuter release clinic.
She attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Caribbean and found another love: the ocean. While in veterinary school she was a leading member of PAWS (People for Animal Welfare on St. Kitts), which included being a foster to multiple dogs. After spending her last year of veterinary school at Cornell University, her fiance and multiple four-legged children ventured to San Diego. A year was spent at California Veterinary Specialists doing a rotating internship focused on small animal medicine, surgery, and emergency. Since completion of the internship in 2010 she has worked as an associate general practitioner and as an emergency clinician, as well as welcomed her first daughter into the world.
All areas of veterinary medicine are of interest; currently, she is focusing on strengthening her ability to perform ultrasounds. On days off she plans to help Dr. Hatt with spay/neuter release programs, surf, hike, and establish a home in beautiful Hawaii.
Dr. Rajdeep Turna
VeterinarianDr. Rajdeep Turna held a passion for animal care early on in his life. Being born and raised on a farmhouse in India, his love for animals grew upon him, as he always saw his family care for the horses, cows, and dogs that they had at the farm. Growing up with various animals, he made a lifelong decision to further his education by attending veterinary school in India. Because of his interest in research he then decided to advance his education by attending College of Medicine, Florida State University, to further understand the biomedical sciences. He graduated from FSU with a M.S., with a focus in cardiac and skeletal muscle regulation and inherited diseases and did research on cardiomyopathy mouse models. While in Tallahassee, Florida Dr. Turna volunteered at various small animal hospitals and attended a visiting veterinarian program at College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida, with a focus on Veterinary Anesthesiology.
After his graduation from FSU, Dr. Turna made a move to California, and started practicing small animal veterinary medicine in the Bay Area and Central Valley. While a year into his practice as a Veterinarian in California, he met his wife, and after marrying her, they both moved to Hawaii a few years ago and have now made Oahu their home. Dr. Turna has a passion for emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery, dermatology, and cardiology. For future endeavors, Dr. Turna wants to get more expertise in ultrasound and be able to give excellent care to pets. During his free time, Dr. Turna loves to be outdoors and explore with his wife as they go on different hikes, participate in water sports, and relax and listen to the beautiful beach waves. Dr. Turna looks forward to serving the community, and be able to provide quality care to the pets, while he forms new relationships with the pets and their owners on this beautiful island.
Executive DirectorAloha! I am Jessica and I am the Executive Director here at Animal House Veterinary Center. I also manage Dr. Hatt’s other practice in Northern California! I feel incredibly blessed to spend my time in two pretty awesome places in the United States. I love being a part of the Animal House Ohana because I believe in providing the best care possible to our fur babies and encouraging and empowering staff to live their best life, both in and out of work. I began my journey in the Veterinary industry with Dr. Hatt back in 2011 and have loved the journey ever since.
But who am I outside of work? I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have 3 loveable furbabies! I have my goofball Lab, Odell, who is the biggest snugglebug I’ve ever met. I have my old lady Australian Shepherd, Maggie May, who was my husband and I’s first baby. And I have an anti-social black cat, Tekka Maki, who just really prefers you leave her be. My husband and I are passionate about traveling and do it as often as we can! I’ve been all over the world, and have wrapped our love of travel into one of my biggest personal goals – To run a marathon in every state! So far, I am 12 states in and the journey has taken me to some pretty phenomenal places that I may not have considered otherwise. When I am not traveling or running (Which admittedly is rare), I am hiking, biking, beaching, or exploring local craft breweries and wineries.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a little bit. Pop on in and say hi! I love to get to know our clients! I look forward to meeting you and your fur babies!
